Respite Care in Nottingham & Derby

Looking after someone you love is one of the most meaningful things you can do. It's also exhausting. And no one can do it alone, indefinitely, without a break.

Our respite care service gives family carers time to rest, recover, or simply have a few hours for themselves, with the confidence that their loved one is being cared for by someone they can trust.

What Respite Care Looks Like

Family carer socialises with friends whilst using respite care in Nottingham

Respite care is flexible by nature. It might be a few hours each week to give you time for your own appointments, a full day so you can spend time with friends, a week's cover while you take a well-earned holiday, or regular scheduled visits to make sure you get a reliable break.

We slot into the existing routine as seamlessly as we can. The goal is for your loved one to feel comfortable and well looked-after, and for you to come back refreshed. Not anxious.

For the Person Receiving Care

If you're the one receiving respite care, you're not an afterthought. You're just as important as the family carer we're supporting. We'll take time to get to know you, understand your routines and preferences, and make sure every visit feels familiar and unhurried.

Welfare Checks

Sometimes you don't need full care cover, you just need to know someone is okay. Our welfare checks are short, friendly visits designed to do exactly that.

A carer will call in, have a chat, check that everything is as it should be, and let you know how things are. It's a simple service, but for families who live at a distance or who just need reassurance on the days they can't be there themselves, it can be genuinely invaluable.

Welfare checks can be arranged as a standalone service or built into a wider respite care package. Whatever works best for your situation.

FAQs

How quickly can you arrange respite care?

We'll always try to arrange cover as quickly as possible. For planned breaks, a week or two's notice gives us the best chance of matching you with the right carer. For urgent situations, call us and we'll do what we can.

Can respite care be ongoing rather than one-off?

Absolutely. Many families use regular scheduled respite visits as a permanent part of their care arrangement. It's one of the most sensible and sustainable ways to manage caring for someone at home long-term.
