Palliative & End-of-Life Care at Home in Nottingham & Derby
Choosing to spend the end of your life at home is a deeply personal decision, and one that takes careful, sensitive support to make possible.
Our palliative and end-of-life care team in Nottingham and Derby provides gentle, dignified care that keeps the person comfortable and helps their family through what is, inevitably, one of the most difficult times of their lives.
What End-of-Life Care Involves
We provide practical care including personal care, medication support, help with nutrition and comfort, and help with positioning and mobility. But end-of-life care is as much about presence and calm as it is about tasks. Our carers are trained to provide emotional support and know when to simply be there quietly.
We work closely with hospice nurses, district nurses, GPs and palliative care teams so that the care is seamless and consistent. We can be there for a few hours a day, or around the clock if that's what's needed.
Supporting the Whole Family
When someone is dying at home, their family is carrying an enormous weight. Our team is mindful of that. We work in a way that supports the family as much as the person receiving care. Giving family members time to simply be present with their loved one, rather than worrying about the practical side of things.
We'll always be honest with you about what we can provide, and we'll signpost you to other sources of support, including bereavement support, when the time comes.
FAQs
What's the difference between palliative care and end-of-life care?
They're closely related but not quite the same thing.
Palliative care is about improving quality of life for someone living with a serious or life-limiting illness. It can start at diagnosis and run alongside other treatments. The focus is on managing symptoms, reducing pain, and supporting the person and their family to live as well as possible, for as long as possible.
End-of-life care is a stage within that. It's the support provided in the final weeks, days or hours of a person's life, when the goal shifts entirely to comfort, dignity and being surrounded by the people you love.
We provide both. Whether someone needs palliative support over a longer period, or more intensive care as they approach the end of their life, we'll make sure the right level of support is in place. And that it changes as their needs do.
Can you put end-of-life care in place quickly?
Yes. We understand that end-of-life situations often move quickly and don't always allow for long planning periods. Call us and we'll move as fast as we possibly can to get the right support in place.
How do you work with hospice or NHS teams?
We liaise directly with any other professionals involved in the person's care. We're there to complement that support, not duplicate it. And communication between everyone involved is essential.
